Water slide marathon raises funds

Diboll High School Cl- Wood chip truck tips over in front of the Diboll Police Department causing traffic to slow to a crawl during the morning commute.

Lufkin Jaycees annual 48 hour water slide marathon taken place in Burke at the Oasis Water Wave Slide for Muscular Dystrophy Association raise $3,000.

New officers of the Burke Mason Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M. are Robert Conner, treasurer; Larry Cook, senior warden; Curt White, worship master; Thomas McBroom, junior warden; Jim Dunlap, secretary, Melvin Ivy, senior steward; Russell Swetland, senior deacon; Bill Jones, junior steward; Bill Carrier, chaplain; Max Jones, junior Deacon; and David Dial, tiler.

The Axmen, Diboll’s Dixie Majors team post 9-3 record to capture second place in league standings behind Shepherd. Leading the Axmen is Robert Fenley with a .360 batting average and posting a 6-3 pitching record.
